Faculty Directory

The SYSU-CMU Joint Institute of Engineering (JIE) was established by Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) and Carnegie Mellon University as a collaboration to nurture a passionate and collaborative global community and network of students, faculty and professionals working toward advancing the field of engineering through education and research in China and the world.

Each year the JIE intends to recruit at least four new professors until the faculty body reaches a total of forty. The faculty candidates undergo a rigorous interview process similar to that of the ECE department at Carnegie Mellon. Each hired faculty member will spend his or her first year at Carnegie Mellon to establish strong connections to the Carnegie Mellon community and to develop a better understanding of Carnegie Mellon’s curriculum and teaching model.
